Aromatherapy

What is aromatherapy? Aromatherapy uses aromatic extracts of plants (essential oils) to promote health and wellbeing, and to treat ill health. These oils are extracted from flowers, leaves, stems, roots, fruit and seeds using methods such as steam distillation and expression, resulting in oils that each have a unique, chemical composition. Essential oils are generally blended and used as part of a massage treatment, tailored to the physical and emotional needs of the client. They can also be used in diffusers, in the bath, in creams and inhalations, according to their purpose.

How will I benefit from aromatherapy? Research increasingly suggests that aromatherapy can be particularly beneficial for chronic, stress related conditions. Stress, and the inflammation it causes, increases the risk of depression, heart disease, chronic pain conditions, certain cancers and Alzheimer’s disease. Aromatherapists believe that essential oils work pharmacologically, psychologically and energetically to improve wellbeing. Why not try a relaxing massage with a blend of oils which has been specifically chosen just for you?
